Detcon Model Series 700
Sensors Integrate Profibus Protocol
Detcon Inc. is pleased to
announce that the Detcon Model Series 700 industrial grade gas detection
sensors are now available with a Profibus protocol interface option.
The Model 700 Profi-RAM Module is an optional accessory for use with
Model 700 Gas Detection Sensors. It is a universal design and can be used with
any of the Model 700 Gas Detection Sensors. The Profi-RAM Module is provided in
an explosion-proof junction box constructed of either epoxy painted aluminum or
electropolished 316 stainless steel and, includes a glass viewing window.
The Profi-RAM Module allows the attached Model 700 Gas Detection Sensor
to function as a Profibus DP slave on a Profibus network in addition to
providing two alarm relays, a fault relay, a 4-20 mA output, and remote
operation of the gas sensor. A Profibus module version allowing the gas sensor
to function as a Profibus DP slave, but without relays and remote control, is
also available.
The Profi-RAM uses the approved AnyBus module to assure
conformance with the Profibus DP communication standard. A downloadable GSD
file is provided to allow a user to configure their Profibus Master to
recognize the Profi-RAM module.
HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Ethernet
and wireless modules are currently under development.
Detcon Model
Series 700 sensors are a new generation of "environmentally bullet proof"
intelligent gas detection devices designed to operate in the industry's
harshest environments. Sensors are available utilizing most commercially active
technologies including, CHEMFET solid state MOS for H2S, catalytic and infrared
for combustible gas, electrochemical cells for a wide range of toxic compounds,
2-electrode air battery sensors for oxygen deficiency and a sub-miniature PID
for a wide range of volatile organic compounds.
All Detcon Model
Series 700 industrial grade gas detection sensors are CSA approved to both
Canadian and UL requirements with ATEX approval pending in September 2006.
