VP Sales and Marketing
Detcon, Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of VP Sales and Marketing. Primary responsibility is to plan and carry out marketing and sales activity to the fortune 500 heavy industrial market sector. Automation industry experience is mandatory. The simple objective is to increase sales and improve customer awareness of Detcon Inc. industrial gas detection products. The candidate shall be self driven, results- oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality company performance and profitability. The candidate shall be a forward planner who critically assesses one's own performance as well as that of key territory managers. The candidate shall be mature, credible and comfortable in dealing with high level executives in fortune 500 industrial companies. The candidate shall be an emphatic communicator with an ability to see things from both sides of a business relationship. The candidate shall be well presented and sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel extensively throughout the global heavy industrial markets. The candidate shall be able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads, etc. He must be a competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals. The candidate must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator. The candidate must be able to demonstrate success and experience managing major accounts, high profile customers and large contracts. The candidate must show ability in recruiting and managing a complete support sales staff including inside sales, customer service and marketing.

Job Summary
Primary priority is to develop new accounts with end users in China. This includes: developing projects, specifying Detcon equipment, providing quotations on specified equipment, following up on quoted projects and submitting weekly reports to Detcon management, providing installed equipment reports for both Detcon products as well as competitor products. Help develop and expand current target list of customers. Ability to organize an effective sales plan that can be executed weekly and results reported accordingly.
Sale Manager is responsible for developing sales strategy for P.R. China and mobilizing all resources globally to realize such a strategy. Should be an effective leader, self-motivated, and one who can take the curent China sales operations to a world-class level and pioneer new business opportunities in the assigned area. The successful candidate must be a strategic thinker and a strong manager. This position reports to the Detcon, Inc. - Asia Pacific Area Manager.
Responsibilites
Obtain new and additional business utilizing both prospecting and account management skills.
Provide accurate reporting as required (weekly activities, project follow-up, forecasting, opportunity reporting).
Manage and support sales to meet corporate sales target.
Support existing representation when required.
Enforce corporate principals and ethical quidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical University Degree
Results-driven sales leader with strong electronics-related sales and marketing background
Five+ years related sales management experience in China with a proven track record.
Ability to work as part of a Global Team with a U.S. multi-national company
Effective presentation/communication in English and Chinese is a must
Deep cultural understanding and business development experience in China
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong leadership skills and management experience
