Detcon Model Series 10 and 12 gas detection and alarm systems consist of single sensor control cards that can be integrated into one system design to create multi-function monitoring and control of a wide range of field devices. Field devices include gas detection sensors, flame and fire detection devices and process sensors. Each control card is capable of supervising a single field device, displaying current status of that device and providing alarm relay outputs once user-configured limits are detected. Gas detection control modules display the real time concentration of a wide range of toxic gases, combustible gas, and oxygen sensors that output a 4-20 milliamp signal. The flame detection module displays the real time status of any flame detector with a 4-20 milliamp output signal. The alarm annunciator module can be used to monitor smoke and thermal detectors, pull stations, and any dry contact closure device.

Detcon Model Series X40 systems are a family of control products that supervise from 1 to 32 inputs, display the real time status of each input and output critical alarm action in accordance with user configurable requirements. Each system is housed in a NEMA 4X weather proof enclosure (NEMA 7 optional). The product series includes a Model 140-N4X, 240-N4X, 440-N4X, 840-N4X, 1640-N4X, and 3240-N4X, respectively a single, dual, four, eight, sixteen, and thirty-two channel input capacity.

The design is a microprocessor based control circuit that can supervise and display the condition of virtually any type of field mounted gas detection sensor or process control function with a 4-20mA analog signal, a serial RS-485 output or a contact closure. Gas sensor types include combustible gas, oxygen deficiency, and more than 40 toxic compounds. Process inputs include, but are not limited to, temperature, humidity, pressure, liquid level, and flow. Additional safety devices such as stand alone thermal detectors, smoke detectors and flame detectors can also be incorporated into a system application.

The controller is completely user programmable. A backlit alpha/numeric display provides real time reading and status for each field device. The display is also used to provide simple menu driven operator interface during system pro­gram­ming including type of input, range of sensitivity, alarm level adjustment and alarm relay configuration. One of the unique features of Model X40 control systems is logging of calibration and alarm history. Historical calibration and alarm data can be displayed on the LCD or the data can be downloaded to a PC via the RS-232 serial port.

Detcon Model 1600A is a “user-configurable” multi-channel gas alarm control system. System capacity is 16 active channels. It can receive and supervise 4-20 milliamp DC inputs or it can be configured to poll up to 16 serial devices via RS-485 Modbus RTU.

The Model 1600A con­troller features a modular de­sign that al­lows the user to customize their selection of stand-alone in­put and output modules. I/O modules are addressable. Three standard I/O functions are available; a 4-channel 4-20 mA in­put module (DA-4), a 4-alarm relay output module (RL-4), and 4-channel 4-20 mA out­put module (AO-4).

Modules are din-rail mounted and stackable allowing for seamless system expansion. These addressable I/O modules may be housed internal to the main system enclosure or they may be packaged for remote mounting in a separate enclosure suitable for the area classification in which they will be installed. The remote mounting option can in some cases significantly reduce wiring and installation cost.

The status of each active input is displayed on a backlit LCD Touch Screen that also serves as a user interface. Typical input status indication includes channel number, tag name, gas type, concentration, and alarm status. Each input can be configured for up to 3 alarm levels. A fourth alarm is based on fault detection functions integral to the system. Each system application can include either common or discreet alarm relays or a combination of both. RS-485 or RS-232 serial output is provided for communication with PLC’s, PC’s, DCS’s, and remote screens.

The control system can be powered by 110/230 VAC or 20-30 VDC. Detcon's full range of gas sensors, which are purchased separately, can be mixed and matched to create a gas detection system consisting of toxic gas, combustible gas, or oxygen deficiency. A wide range of field devices such as liquid level, temperature, pressure, flow etc. can also be configured for input to the control system. Features include one-touch Alarm Inhibit, Alarm Reset, and Alarm Silence (Acknowledge) functions. The Model 1600A controller provides for a unique combination of user programming flexibility and customizable expansion capability, in a low-cost and simple-to-operate package.

Detcon Model 880A/S is a PLC based control system designed to monitor and control multiple gas detection sensors and other field devices. The main unit is programmed as a Modbus master with two options available; Model 880A-N4X for analog input field devices and Model 880S-N4X for addressable field devices. The system is completely configurable without the need for engineering or PLC programmer support. Selection of the number of active channels, gas type, range of measurement, and alarm relay logic are all simple menu driven tasks accomplished by navigating through and using a series of configuration screens featuring touch screen simplicity.

The Analog version (880A-N4X) has a system capacity of up to 72 field devices using distributed I/O nodes consisting of Detcon Model DA-4 for 4-20 mA DC inputs, Detcon Model DI-4 for digital inputs and Detcon Model RL-4 for alarm relay outputs. Power and din rail access are provided locally for up to eight I/O modules for both 880A-N1R and 880S-N1R. The Serial version (880S-N4X) is specifically designed for installations with up to 32 RS-485 addressable devices. The system features an 8-inch color touch screen that includes system configuration, utilities, and alarm history. The main screen displays the current reading and alarm status of up to 8 field devices at a time. Touch tabs at the top of the screen are used to navigate to additional screens of up to 8 field devices (9 tabs for Analog, 4 tabs for Serial). A tab will change to red shading if a device on its screen creates an alarm condition. Each sensor and/or field device can be selected from its main screen for viewing of its current status, configuration parameters and a graph of recent gas concentration levels.

Detcon Model 880 systems feature a USB port that is used for data logging and recording alarm history. Bulk memory thumb drives can be installed for high density installations.

Detcon Model 880R-N4X is a remote display designed to operate in conjunction with Detcon Model 880 PLC-based control systems. The 880R-N4X features a touch-screen operator interface and mimics the display functions of the main Model 880 system controller. It can be installed up to 1000 feet away. Digital data repeaters can be added to extend this distance.
